ePack #19

Dear Families:

I hope you have enjoyed the mild temperatures this week.  At least we had some of the snow melt so the children could get outside for recess!  It is pretty hard to believe that January is just about over and we are almost at the 100th day of school.

Monday, February 1st:  Kindergarten students will receive their first semester report cards. Kindly return the yellow envelope to school with your signature.  Also, Mrs. Meropol, our Kindergarten Literacy Teacher, will be sending home your child's literacy portfolio.  You will be very impressed with these collections!

School Committee:  Please note that I will be providing the School Committee an update on Community School at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, February 1st.  The School Committee meeting will be shown on North TV.

Student Job Applicants:  We received great feedback from our students regarding student jobs.  We will be "hiring" children very soon!

ICARE Reading Program:  I would like to thank Kristen Kraskouskas for organizing this important program at school.  Also, a big thanks to our parent volunteers for reading to our students!

That's all for now.  Just a few postings in this week's ePack.

Have a great weekend,

Mr. Gaudette

ePack #18

Dear Families:

It was a short week for us at Community School due to MLK, Jr. Day on Monday.  Let's hope our Patriots Rally Day today works for us again this weekend!  We have a very brief message this week and only a couple of postings in the ePack.

RTM:  The RTM (Representative Town Meeting) is looking for new members.  Please see the posting in the ePack.

Student "Jobs":  We are in the process of organizing student "jobs" for children in grades 3-5.  "Applications" will be sent out to students soon.  Students will assist with recycling, powering on/off computers, and assisting in the cafeteria to name a few.

School Council:  I would like to thank Katie Ramm and Heather Chick for joining our School Council!

That's all for now!  Enjoy the weekend.

Go Pats!

Mr. Gaudette

ePack #17

Dear Families:

It looks as though winter has moved in and is here to stay!  We have had indoor recess for a couple of days due to icy spots and very cold temperatures.  Please don't forget that tomorrow is Patriot Rally Day as our New England Patriots start their playoff run on Saturday.  Staff and students are invited to wear their gear or red, white and blue to school.

Drop Off Time:  Recently, we have had students dropped off very early to school - well before 8:00 a.m.  Teachers are not contractually required to be on duty until 8:05 a.m.  Please do not drop off your child until 8:05 a.m. at the earliest.  If your child is in the building prior to 8:05 a.m., they are more than likely unsupervised.  Thank you for your cooperation.

MLK Jr. Day:  Please remember that there is no school on Monday, January 18th.

Community School Web Page:  If you don't follow our school on Twitter (@CommunityComets), please note that our Twitter feed is now posted on our school web site.

Social Media:  Please note that the Superintendent's Office has created two new social media sites to disseminate information:

              Twitter:  @NAPublicSchools or www.Twitter.com/NAPublicSchools
              Facebook:  https://www.facebook.com/North-Attleborough-Public-Schools-566134893555209/

Kindergarten Registration:  Please click here to find out more information about registration.

Postings:  There are many postings in this week's ePack.  Please check them out!

Enjoy your upcoming long weekend,

Mr. Gaudette

ePack #16

Dear Families:

Welcome back and Happy New Year to all of you!  I hope everyone enjoyed the holidays and the time off from school.  The children have done a nice job adjusting to school once again.  There are actually no postings for this week's ePack, just my weekly message.

Bubbleology:  The children and staff enjoyed this presentation this past Tuesday very much. I hope the children did not make too many bubbles when they got home this week. Please see a few photos below.

PTO Meeting: Our next PTO meeting is Wednesday, January 13th, at 7:00 p.m. Please join us!

Friday, January 15th:  We will have a Patriots Rally Day as the Pats start another playoff run!  Staff and students are invited to wear their Pats gear or red, white and blue to school.

No School:  Please remember to mark your calendars that there is no school on Monday, January 18th due to Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

Lunchtime Snacks:  As a staff, we tweaked the snack policy in the cafeteria.  We have noticed that children are not eating their lunches and we have even had a couple cases of children dropping their food under the tables to make it look like they ate everything so they could purchase a snack.  I will amend the Student Handbook to reflect the new snack schedule:

  • Monday:  Grade 1 (Kindergarten if time allows)
  • Tuesday:  Grade 2 and Grade 3
  • Thursday:  Grade 4
  • Friday:  Grade 5
Outdoor Clothing:  Our policy is if it is 25 degrees Fahrenheit with no windchill, the children will have outdoor recess.  Please make sure your child is dressed appropriately for recess and clothing is labeled.

Kindergarten Information Night:  If you were unable to make it to our Kindergarten Information Night last night, please click here

Help!:  If you are "handy" and have knowledge of machines and circuitry, our laminator is not working and we need someone to take a look at it.  It will cost us about $200 just to have someone come look at it.  Please contact the office if you're able to assist us.  Thanks!

That's it for now.  Have a great weekend!

Mr. Gaudette
