Dear Families:
This will be the final ePack of the 2016-2017 school year. I may have something to send to you next week. If that is the case, I will send it to you via Connect-Ed. There are only a few postings in this week's ePack. You can check them out here.
Thank You: Thank you very much to Kara Coddaire and Tara Pratt for organizing the Grade 5 Field Day this week. Your efforts are very much appreciated. Thanks to the PTO Board - Kristen Kraskouskas, Erin Carr and Sarah Peri for their efforts and time helping Community School this year on so many fronts. Thank you to ALL of the volunteers - too many to mention individually - for your help this past school year. We can't do it without you! BIG thanks to the entire Community School staff for their efforts this school year!
Grade 3 Flag Day Presentation: Congratulations to our third graders for doing a fantastic job at their Flag Day presentation yesterday.
Kindergarten Graduations: These seemed to go very smoothly today and I heard a great deal of positive feedback about having these ceremonies take place in classrooms rather than the auditorium. Thanks for coming and thanks to the the staff for organizing these events!
Grade 1 Field Trip: Please don't forget the first graders are going on their field trip to Roger Williams Zoo on Monday, June 19th.
Grade 1 Weather Presentation: Our first graders were treated to a visit by the NBC Boston/NECN "Weather Warrior" vehicle and meteorologist, Jackie Layer, this week. Thank you to Mr. Lemes (his son, Nicholas, is in Mrs. Valeri's and Mrs. O'Brien's class) for arranging this visit! The classes were on television, as well. Check it out here.
Grade 5 Graduation: This event is taking place on Tuesday, June 20th at 9:30 a.m. We hope to see you there.
Final Day of School: The final day of school is Friday, June 23rd. Dismissal is at 11:30 a.m. and final report cards will be distributed. Please note that your child's report card will also contain a letter indicating their teacher for next year.

Please note that the last snow day puts us at four total for the year. Our final day of school is Friday, June 23rd. Due to the short week, this Weekly Message will be brief.
Last Monday: We had a "Mad Science" enrichment program for all students. Thank you to our PTO for funding this program!
Last Wednesday: Our grade one students had a Lego enrichment program. Thanks, once again, to our PTO for funding this program.

That's all for now! Just a few postings in this week's ePack. Happy St. Patrick's Day and have a great weekend!

Well, it was a choppy week to say the least! We had a snow day and a Professional Development Day, so it was very hard to get into a routine this week. Please note that the last snow day puts us at four total for the year. Our final day of school is Friday, June 23rd. Due to the short week, this Weekly Message will be brief.
Last Monday: We had a "Mad Science" enrichment program for all students. Thank you to our PTO for funding this program!

Dear Families:
February Vacation is here! I hope everyone enjoys the break. It is hard to believe March begins just a few days after we get back. Classes resume on Monday, February 27th. Here is this week's update:
Pokemon Cards: I am sorry to report that due to numerous arguments, Pokemon Cards are banned effective immediately. These cards are not allowed back on school grounds. Please inform your child.
Postings: There are many postings this week. Please be sure to check out the ePack carefully!
Author Skype: Ms. Bolton scheduled a Skype with author Julie Phillipps who wrote, Wink: The Ninja Who Wanted to Stand Out. Our first and second grade students were a part of this. Please ask your child about this Skype visit.
That's all for this week. Again, enjoy February Vacation and we'll see you back at Community School on Monday, February 27th.

Dear Families:
I hope your children enjoyed the last two school days off and had some fun in the snow! It looks like more is on the way on for Monday, so please stay tuned to your local news. Here is this week's update:
Last Wednesday: Ms. Bolton, Community School librarian, arranged for a Skype visit with author Tom Angleberger. Our grade four and grade five students were able to meet and ask questions of Mr. Angleberger. Thanks to Ms. Bolton for arranging this Skype visit in the library.
Valentine's Day: Valentine's Day is Tuesday, February 14th. Please remember that food/candy should not accompany any type of Valentine's cards your child may bring to school. Thanks for your cooperation.
School Council: The School Council will meet on Wednesday, February 15th at 3:15 p.m.
MCAS: Please note the MCAS Schedule for this spring in this week's ePack. This is subject to change.
February Break: Vacation will take place February 20-24th.
Arrival/Dismissal: Given the amount of snow from the last storm, we will need extra cooperation from parents when dropping off and picking up children. Barrows St. is obviously even more narrow than usual. STUDENT SAFETY IS OUR #1 PRIORITY!
Have a great weekend!

MCAS Schedule: I am finalizing this spring's MCAS schedule and should be able to share that with you very soon. Thanks for your patience.
